Livo is a small but lovely, old mountain villaggio with a resident species of goat – the Capra di Livo – and a busy bar and pizzeria called La Baita – the hut – which claims all the village inhabitants – children, parents, and grand-parents – in the late afternoon that ends the lengthy Italian lunch break – pausa pranzo. Central to the town is a pink building with the family name ‘Pradella’ painted in large letters across the facade. The Poulerie is the result of the skilful restoration of an old small rural stable. The interventions were all carried out by artisans of the area, selected in order to make the restoration consistent with the surrounding context of the village of Burano and, at the same time, to support in our small local economy.
The realization of the project had a dutifully troubled life. The village of Burano, in which the structure is located, dates back to the 14th century and the renovations (in a conservative way) must respect, for this reason, a number of constraints.
At the entrance of Gravedona stands Palazzo Gallio, a mighty villa created in the place where the Gravedona Castle was previously located. The palace was originally intended to be the residence of Cardinal Tolomeo Gallio, but its construction ended in 1607, the year of the death of its patron.
A long time the villa was ducal residence but also hospital during the period of occupation French and Spanish.
